One of the World´s largest can producers for the food and beverage industries had problems with shielded deep groove ball bearings mounted in a furnace. The furnace temperature was 300ºC whereas the bearings had a limit of 120ºC. And, to make matters worse, the bearings worked in an environment contaminated with solid varnish particles.
Having completed the situational analysis, we proposed the assembly of an NSK heat-stabilised bearing (with a resistance up to 200ºC) protected by a viton seal capable of working constantly at up to 150ºC. The change not only improved bearing life sixfold (15 days to 3 months), but also led to a substantial saving on belt maintenance since its life was also dramatically increased: in this case twelvefold (15 days to 6 months).
