One of NSK's biggest Automotive customers frequently changed the Super Precision bearings in the vertical spindles on their production line, due to the ingress of cooler liquid in the bearings which caused corrosion.
NSK analysed the bearings and determined that the cooler liquid was coming into contact with the first bearing quite frequently which was a major contributor to the spindle breakdown. NSK recommended replacing the original bearings with Sealed Angular Contact ball bearing- in two years spindle breakdown has been reduced from 54 occurances to only 12.
