Tail drum conveyor in a snack Company
History
An Internationally renown Italian Food Company was experiencing problems with its fixed tail drum conveyor bearings. Operating in a damp environment the bearings had a bearing life of only 6 months. The company asked NSK to analyse the application and propose technical solutions to increase the bearing life and reduce maintenance costs, which had become excessive due to frequent bearing failures.
Corrective Measures
Having analysed the application, NSK suggested switching to Molded-Oil™ Spherical Roller Bearings to replace the double-row ball bearing with grease lubrication. Since mounting the new bearings, the bearing life has increased to 15 months and as a consequence the maintenance intervals have been reduced. New tests are on going in order to verify the possiblity of increasing the bearing life even more.
