Transmissions Manufacturer
History
A leading transmissions manufacturer turned to NSK with a common challenge. They were unable to get delivery of a bearing that was designed uniquely for their application and which was only available from one bearing manufacturer. The customer came to NSK to design in a bearing that was readily available and still met all the application requirements.
Corrective Measures
NSK analysed the customer's drawings. The current design was for a wider inner ring bearing. This extension provided the seal contact surface. NSK was not just looking to find an acceptable bearing interchange that would provide a more readily available bearing selection, but was able to provide a complete redesign of the bearing, shaft, seal, o-ring and spacer system that resulted in improved product performance and reduced the customer's costs.
