NSK Linear Products at the EMO
From high-speed to heavy-duty: Ball screws for machine tools
As the world's largest manufacturer of ground ball screws, NSK's Linear Products division will once again present selections from their extensive programme at the EMO. Exhibits will include the BSS ball screw, which was especially developed for the machine-tool industry, and the new HTF ball screw series for high mechanical stresses, such as are found in presses and mechanical pipe benders, among others.
With the BSS series, NSK offers the machine-tool industry ball screws with extremely high power density: the actuators are suitable for high-speed operation up to 180,000 dN and are approximately 6 dB quieter than standard ball screws. The dimensions of the nuts meet the expanded DIN 69051-5.
These gear units are now used in the machines of leading machine tool manufacturers – as are the linear guides from the RA series, which NSK also developed especially for machine tools. They are distinguished by their very high load carrying capacity, extremely high rigidity, and long service life – even under adverse operating conditions. The compact heavy-duty seal contributes to this, providing optimum protection against external contaminants.
NSK will present the HTF ball screw at the EMO for the first time. Its major feature is its high load rating, up to 30 % higher than other high load carrying capacity ball screws. Thanks to the optimised design, compact dimensions have been achieved, despite the high load carrying capacity. A variety of designs are available, including the SRD series with end baffle and the especially quiet SRC (Smooth Return Coupling) design. The newly developed A1 seal, which prevents loss of lubricant to the greatest possible extent, is particularly interesting in this context.
With these properties, the new HTF series is suitable for applications with a high load over short distances. Typical areas of use include servo presses and other press designs, as well as pipe bending machines.
NSK Linear Products will be presenting at the EMO together with ball and roller bearing division, which also has a broad programme especially for the machine-tool industry. Innovations prevented in Milan will include the Robust Slim series for the support of machine tables, the new spindle bearing with oil-air lubrication through the outer ring, and the sealed Robust Wide spindle bearing with increased grease life.
