The lifting of sanctions on Iran in January 2016 has brought about a marked change in the country’s industrial outlook. With access to international markets for the first time in decades, steel exports have increased significantly over the past 12 months. As a result, the region’s steel plants are now investing in their capacity and capability in order to keep pace with demand.
NSK will bring to the Iran International Steel Exhibition a number of bearing innovations designed specifically to enhance all stages of the steelmaking process, from the preparation of raw material, through smelting operations, right up to the final rolled product. For instance, KVS 355 Extra-Capacity Sealed-Clean Four-Row Tapered Roller Bearings deliver great benefits to the work rolls found in rolling mill applications. Around 15-35% higher load capacity is provided by these bearings in comparison to conventional sealed bearings, as well as 1.6 to 2.7 times greater life. KVS 355 bearings are manufactured from NSK’s high-durability Super-TF steel as standard, while the use of heat- and water-resistant sealing materials helps to enhance resistance to contamination.
Among other innovations, NSK will showcase its extensive range of Spherical Roller Bearings. NSKHPS (High Performance Standard) series bearings, for example, are of double-row construction to ensure they can accommodate heavy radial loads with moderate axial loads in either direction. Moreover, the surface profile of the rollers and the inner ring raceway enable the self-aligning function to permit full capacity loading. NSKHPS series bearings offer extended operating life and higher limiting speeds than conventional bearings.
A further attraction for exhibition visitors will be Molded-Oil bearings from NSK, which are designed to be maintenance-free as oil is released from the internal Molded-Oil system on demand, without the need for replenishment. Furthermore, these advanced bearings provide excellent performance in water- and dust-contaminated environments.
To be staged at the International Exhibition Center in Tabriz, in Iran’s northwest, the Iran International Steel Exhibition is set to attract around 320 exhibitors and thousands of visitors from the steel and metals sector. Adding to the event’s appeal, a concurrent symposium will discuss recent industry research, as well as the latest market challenges and strategies.
