Introduction

NSK regularly carries out CMS measurements at one of the largest automotive OEMs in Germany. At one point in the production line, the car body had to be lifted to the next level within the production line. During a CMS measurement it was found out, that one of the pillow block with a spherical roller bearing would break over time. During the next regular maintenance the bearing was replaced. The subsequent examinations clearly showed a crack in the bearing. With NSK's CMS measurement, the customer was able to clearly predict bearing failures and to avoid unplanned production line stoppages on a larger scale. This subject helped to reduce maintenance cost.
